The site sits at the top of Main Street overlooking the Vancouver Flats and False Creek. One of the first new developments under the new Mount Pleasant community plan, the mixed-use 10 storey building includes ground floor commercial space, 9 levels of residential as well artist studio spaces along the laneway.
Responding to the dense program and the existing surrounding context, the building is formed by a series of 2-3 level masses, each shaped by the sightlines from adjacent buildings. The result defined open and intimate spaces including entryways to the townhomes, large balconies for apartments facing the city, as well as a large rooftop for all home-owners.
Beyond the mass, the envelope of the building continues the language of “shift” and “cutting” with layered patterns of wood panels, glass and inset balconies.
